Retail and Business AwardsThe Currency Exchange in Wollongong was proud to be a finalist in the 2012 Wollongong City Centre  Retail and Business awards in the "General Services" and "Independent Operator" categories - and we were even happier when we won both the categories! The great night continued when we were announed as joint winners of the overall "Retailer/Business of the Year"! It is a fantastic honour to win this award at the Wollongong City Centre Awards which are now in their 19th year.

These quotes are taken from the official release from Wollongong Council.

"In a first for the Wollongong City Centre Retail and Business Awards, Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery OAM announced two winners for the Retailer/Business of the Year at the gala dinner at the Novotel Wollongong Northbeach tonight.

With the same highest composite score across all judging criteria, beauty store Ella Bache and travel company The Currency Exchange were announced as dual winners for the 2012 Wollongong City Centre Retailer/Business of the Year – the first time in the 19 year history of the Awards.

The Currency Exchange is located in Wollongong Central and offers solutions for currency exchange for travelers.  With a philosophy to ‘keep it simple’ despite the complex business of managing over 40 currencies, The Currency Exchange is number one in Australia for the cash passport card.  2011 was the first full year that The Currency Exchange traded independently from its previous franchise arrangement.  The family business is enjoying the success of its desire to have full control over its activities and focusing on customer requirements.  With zero staff turnover, this business is a star in the Wollongong City Centre."

The team at The Currency Exchange in Wollongong would like to thank all our customers and everyone who was involved in the design and building of our store - we couldn't have acheived this without you.

Crown St Mall Awards

We were also "General Services" category winners in 2010 - here were the judges comments from then: "The modern, beautifully designed, minimalist premises of The Currency Exchange , focus all the attention of this business at its very core - that is, providing a quick efficient and accurate financial service. Digital exchange rate screens at the front of the store initially facilitate the transaction, with the most professional staff completing the service inside. Here is a business which knows all about what is needed and specializes in giving great service!"

We were also finalists in the 2009 and 2012 Illawarra Business Chamber awards in both the "Small Business" and "Retail and Personal Services" categories! It was a great honour to be finalists and whilst we were not the overall winner we'd like to thank all of our customers for their support and our dedicated team for their hard work - without whom this would not have been possible.
